£500,000: Duffy Or No Duffy?

Reports coming from both Hull and Swansea seem to indicate that Hull manager Phil Brown has placed a £500,000 price tag on the head of Pools target Darryl Duffy.

However it looks like Brown wants to keep Duffy for Hull’s upcoming campaign. Duffy said ‘I’ve been to see Phil Brown and basically he’s said that he’s happy to keep me at Hull.’

‘He said if I have a good pre-season and score a few goals then I will start the season.’

Duffy admits that he has no clue where he will start the 2007/08 season ‘I was hoping I would have something sorted one way or another by now, but I haven’t got a clue what’s happening.’

The former Rangers striker revealed that if the right offer came along the gaffer would let him move on ‘Phil Brown also said if the club gets a good offer for me and I want to leave he will not stand in my way.’

‘I don’t know what they want for me. That’s between clubs and agents. They wouldn’t tell me anything like that.’

It appears that Duffy’s first choice is Swansea City but admitted that other teams are still interested ‘I’m still keen to come back to Swansea. I think it would be a decent move if it came off, but right now I’m still a Hull player.’

‘Apparently there a few teams in for me, but I don’t know that for sure because it’s just speculation.’

With Swansea having signed Jason Scotland recently the move to the Liberty Stadium looks unlikely ‘I haven’t spoke to Roberto Martinez for a few weeks.’

‘He said he’ll let me know if there’s any news that concerns me, but at the moment I’m in the dark.’

Hibernian have also admitted their intrest and have money to spend after selling Scott Brown to Celtic for £4.4 million.

It looks almost certain that Duffy won’t be coming to Pools now, he would pick Swansea over us and Hibs would outbid us so unless both drop out or he has a change of heart we need to look elsewhere for new signings.
