Hartlepool’s League 2 season continued with a third straight win, this time against York at Bootham Crescent on Saturday.

A one-nil deficit was overturned by Hartlepool to see them, with the help of a late deflected effort, return home with a two-one win.

The deadlock couldn’t be broken in the first half but Thompson (57) did that for the home side just before the hour to give York the lead. This was cancelled out by captain Paynter’s (71) curled effort into the top corner for his third in as many games to make it one-one.

Woods (81), thanks to a wicked deflection off Berrett, won it for Pools in the final 10-minutes.

Looking at these results the stand out one has to be the Northampton win against Exeter and the incredible draw between Carlisle and Cambridge!

This three-nil Northampton win against previously unbeaten Exeter, which followed up a three-nil League Cup win over Blackpool in midweek, made it three wins out of three with seven-goals scored and none conceded so far by Chris Wilder’s side.

An up and down game at Brunton Park saw Carlisle come from behind and Ibehre grab himself a hat-trick, the first in League 2 this season to continue his early season form, but that still wasn’t enough to give the Blues all three-points in a four-four draw with free scoring Cambridge.

Hartlepool are back in action this midweek with a home game against Newport in League 2 at the Vic as the winning run is looked to be extended upon by Pools!
