Hartlepool’s League 2 season continued with a first win in a while secured against Yeovil at Huish Park on Saturday.

That winning feeling returned for Hartlepool with a two-one win at Yeovil secured late one.

Fenwick (32) had given Hartlepool the lead but Yeovil were soon level when Bird (37), who had a loan spell with Pools last season, made it one-all at the break.

With a draw looking on Walker (83) sealed the win, to end a seven-match winless run, which took Hartlepool back up to 11th and despite that poor run leaves Pools just a point off the play-offs!

These were the match highlights.

The other results this weekend were as follows:-

Saturday 26th September 2015
Barnet 3-1 Dag & Red
Bristol Rovers 1-2 Portsmouth
Cambridge 1-0 Stevenage
Carlisle 0-1 Newport
Crawley 0-3 Accrington
Exeter 0-2 Wycombe
Luton 2-0 Wimbledon
Mansfield 0-0 Plymouth
Northampton 1-1 Leyton Orient
Notts County 1-0 York
Oxford Utd 0-0 Morecambe
Yeovil 1-2 Hartlepool

Looking at these results the stand out ones have to be the wins for Barnet, Newport and Notts County.

It might have been a change at the top with Portsmouth winning at Bristol Rovers to take the lead in League 2 but it was wins at the other end of the table that make most difference in many ways!

Barnet, since a defeat at Pompey funnily enough at which time boss Martin Allen insisted wins were coming, extended an unbeaten run to two-matches with both of them won! A three-one win at the Hive against struggling Dagenham wasn’t a surprise in itself but it keeps some momentum going for the Bees.

A midweek four-one thrashing of struggling Crawley, who shipped three-goals again in another defeat, saw Notts County hope grow that finally the season could be up and running? County followed that up with a one-nil win at Meadow Lane against York, maybe this is the case now!

The standout result though has to be Newport’s win at Carlisle? The one-nil win for the Exiles not only saw them win for the first time this season, it wasn’t enough to take them off the foot of the League 2 table though, it also saw Terry Butcher’s side end the Blues’ own unbeaten run and came just a matter of days after they came within a penalty shootout of knocking Liverpool out of the League Cup.

Maybe that game at Anfield took more out of Carlisle, mentally and physically, than thought? Either way Butcher said Newport were improving, they followed up a draw last weekend with a win so he’s right!

Who was the Hartlepool Man of the Match in this game? That’s what the latest poll is asking so do cast a vote.

Did a starter, or someone from the bench, offer the most in this win?

Select the Pools name you want from the list in the poll to your right, we’re also looking for your thoughts and views too so do share some of those with your comments below.

Hartlepool are back in action this midweek with another League 2 game against Bristol Rovers at the Vic on Tuesday.
