Wilson Relishes Return To ‘Tough’ Hartlepool

Sheffield United manager Danny Wilson says he’s looking forward to facing his former side Hartlepool, but warns they face a difficult challenge.

Wilson’s men occupy the final automatic promotion place going into the weekend but he says a trip to Victoria Park is never easy.

”Usually they are very strong at home and they’re always a tough nut to crack. Maybe they’ll have no fear because they won`t be going down but might find getting into the play-offs difficult.

”But that could make them even more dangerous. Doubly so perhaps. There’s always something to play for in football though. People who say otherwise just don’t understand a professional’s mentality.”

Having spent two-and-a-half years at the club between 2006 and 2008, Wilson highlighted a number of players he thought could be a threat to the Blades’ promotion push.

”They’ve got a lad on loan – Ryan Noble – who we know quite well Tony Sweeney has got a terrific engine.” he told the Star.

”Andy Monkhouse is someone people know well from being at Rotherham and he’s technically as good as anything in this division.”
