The scar of the horrendous televised defeat last Sunday against Notts County has already been healed according to boss Mick Wadsworth.

A woeful display saw Pools defeated 3-0 and as they prepare to entertain Wycombe tomorrow at the Vic, Wadsworth is adamant the performance and result was a fluke and that his players have moved on from it. ” Every now and again you get what we call a ‘rogue` performance. It was a poor day, but it`s case of getting over it as quickly as possible.

”We came in the day after and exorcised the ghost on Monday and then on Tuesday we started the work towards Saturday. One of the main things is to talk about it.”
He told the Mail.

He continued to explain his rituals in which he hopes has helped the players forget the nightmare. ” We have to look at the things which made us strong in the past and re-emphasise those issues. You can have a discussion, or a lecture, or sometimes both and look at the rights and wrongs and then get rid of it.

”You can`t dwell on it because sometimes the more you stir something up, the more problems it gives you. You have words and you move on. That`s served us very well in the past and we`re hoping it does this time.”
