The League 2 season continued with the latest round of matches played in midweek.

A lead at was extended by Plymouth with Blackpool recording a surprising win, talking of which Wycombe’s five-one win against Crewe was certainly a ‘surprising’ win.

Here’s a round up of the League 2 action from the other matches played.

Tue 27 Sep 2016 – League Two
Accrington 1-1 Mansfield 19:45
Blackpool 3-1 Portsmouth 19:45
Cambridge 1-0 Yeovil 19:45
Cheltenham 0-0 Stevenage 19:45
Crawley 1-1 Colchester 19:45
Doncaster 2-2 Carlisle 19:45
Exeter 0-2 Notts County 19:45
Grimsby 1-0 Newport 19:45
Hartlepool 1-1 Luton 19:45
Leyton Orient 0-2 Plymouth 19:45
Wycombe 5-1 Crewe 19:45
Barnet 2-2 Morecambe 20:00

A two-nil win at Leyton Orient (who parted company with Andy Hessenthaler) was enough to see Plymouth open up a five-point lead at the top of the table.

Portsmouth were second but dropped to fourth after a three-one defeat at Blackpool, Pompey remain tied with Luton and Doncaster (above them) and Notts County (below them) in a four-way tie for second.

Luton went up to second with a one-all draw at Hartlepool with Doncaster’s two-all draw with Carlisle (who retain an unbeaten start to the league season) at the Keepmoat Stadium lifting them to third.

A much-improved season from Notts County this term sees them currently sitting in fifth with that two-nil win at Exeter seeing the Grecians’ home form continuing to cost them.

Wycombe stunned Crewe with a five-one win at Adams Park, which once again showed how unpredictable League 2 can be that literally anyone can beat anyone and quite convincingly too!
