Hartlepool secured a win over Doncaster in League 2 on Saturday.

It was heartbreak for Hartlepool, a 2-1 win over title-chasing Doncaster wasn’t enough to prevent Pools’ 96 year stay in the Football League coming to an end when Newport scored a late winner.

Andy Williams had given Doncaster a first half lead, however, substitute Devante Rodney’s brace turned the game around for Hartlepool, but Newport’s winner against Notts County sent Pools down.

This video shows the highlights from this game at Victoria Park.

From all of us at Pompey, we were with you allthe way & appreciate your result helped us win the league. However would have been happy with just promotion if it meant you had stayed up.
Good luck on a quick return to the football league.

Cruel way for Hartlepool to go down, feel for Pools, but thanks for helping us go up as champions. All being well things can get sorted out at the Vic and you’ll soon be back in the Football League, it’ll need to happen quickly though!
