Hartlepool United caretaker manager Chris Turner was left with a smile on his face after Pools 2-1 victory over Tranmere.

In a game spoiled by the wind, Turner said he was delighted with the scorline ”The conditions out there were absolutely horrendous; the referee said to me that it was the worst wind he’s ever refereed a professional match in.

”It was very difficult to get the ball down, very difficult to decide to head it or let it go through and very difficult to make clearances and once again I think the players showed their battling strengths.”
he told Pools World.

He added that the points were the most important thing on the night ”At this stage of the season and where we are in the league, the three points are the most important thing for us.”

Pools are now 10 points clear of the bottom 4 and have another home game this Saturday when Peterbrough United head to the Vic.
