Hartlepool, looking to end a run of defeats, take on York at Victoria Road on Saturday afternoon.

Jack Barmby and Luke Williams came in on loan from Man United and Middlesbrough this week and should both be in the squad, with debuts for both possible.

Marlon Harewood made his debut last week and his home debut is likely this time round.

The double hernia operation that Michael Duckworth had means he’s still out as is Jordan Richards following his sending off against Fleetwood last week. Sam Collins is one of those in contention to replace him.

Ahead of the game Colin Cooper told BBC Tees: ‘The players and I are anxious to get 2014 going. Last week Jordan was sent off in the first minute which made it hard work.

‘The new lads give us something different and bring a bit of freshness to the squad.

‘My job is to keep the lads focussed so they do the right things. I think if we can just get our noses in front we’ll be fine.’
