Hartlepool United boss Martin Scott will look to extend the loan stay of Ipswich Town striker Dean McDonald this week, we reported yesterday that Dean had played his last game of his initial one month loan spell after joining the club on the 16th November, however it has been confirmed that the deal was not actually completed until the 17th November which makes him eligible for Saturday?s trip to Walsall. Pools are keen to extend the deal for at least a further month with Martin Scott saying:-

?I’ve been delighted with him since he came to the club – he’s a young lad with great talent. We’d like to prolong it – his last scheduled game is next week against Walsall, so I’ll have to speak to Joe Royle and see what his plans are.

He’s highly thought of at Ipswich, but he’s here to play games and if he continues playing like he’s been playing here, he’s going to get recognised. The fans have taken to him, as he’s been the missing link for us up front with the unpredictability he brings when he’s in possession.’

The stumbling block appears to be Town boss Joe Royle who is struggling with injuries at present and was forced to name 17 year old trainee striker Billy Clarke in the starting line up for Saturday?s home game with QPR. Ipswich travel to Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday with Royle hoping to have some of his injured strikers available for selection again.
