Hartlepool United boss Martin Scott was quick to praise his side despite going down 1-0 to Paul Merson’s Walsall on Saturday afternoon. Scott said:-

“I think we deserved to probably win the game. We played well and dominated for long periods of the game, but the quality in the last attacking third wasn’t good enough.

After a good performance we’ve come away with no points, when your on top you’ve got to score. I’m massively disappointed for the players because they deserved more than what they’ve got.

You look at our goals against compared to our goals scored this season and compare it to the last two seasons and defensively we are good, but it’s the goals for we are missing.”

On the subject of the injured duo Adam Boyd and Joel Porter Scott added:-

“We are pleased with the way they are progressing, but they won’t come back until they are right. Hugh Robertson who came back last week has broke down again during the week and we are massively disappointed for him.

If we are honest people will go away today and say Hartlepool are a good team, they know we are a good team, I know we are a good team and I have belief in these players.”

The news about Hugh Robertson is a massive disappointment, Hugh played well during his come back game against Bournemouth last week and must have though his injury problems were behind him, we’ll have to wait and see how long this latest injury set back will rule him out of first team action.
