Did he jump or was he pushed?

The official line is Ronnie Moore has left Hartlepool by mutual consent, either way Pools are looking for a new manager after a parting of ways following another poor result.

Defeat to fellow strugglers Stevenage on Tuesday at Victoria Park proved the final straw with the run of just one win in the last 10-matches seeing Hartlepool continue to plummet down the League 2 table, after such a promising start, to be just outside the bottom two and just four-points from safety.

A statement released on the Official Site read.

‘Hartlepool United can announce that Manager Ronnie Moore has left the Club by mutual consent.

“This is an extremely difficult decision but one we feel is right for the Football Club,” explained Chairman Gary Coxall.

“Ronnie has worked tirelessly to bring success to the Club during his time at The Vic and we thank him sincerely for those efforts and wish him well for the future.”

‘Moore had been in charge since December 2014 and led the Club to a remarkable survival in League Two during the second half of last season.

‘There will be a further announcement in due course.’

Having taken charge last season, seemingly of a position of near certain relegation, an amazing turnaround saw Hartlepool stay in the Football League but a poor run of result has left the club, in many ways, with little decision with this move seemingly the best thing.

Afterall it is a ‘results based business’ and we’ve not seen enough positive ones in months have we!

Craig Hignett is one of the early names being linked.
