I suspect it’s many years since Pools avoided the drop into non league football by only three points. How many years is it ? I thought that last seasons performances were at best lethargic and on the whole totally inadequate!

I wonder why????? My view is that it was a poor team and I’m afraid, poorly coached.. For a club of Hartlepool’s continuous history in league football of about ninety years it’s astonishing to see them outperformed over a season by newcomers like Fleetwood, Burton, Crawley, Wimbledon and the rest with no history at all, and no better support than the Pools.

I’ve been a Pools supporter since the early fifties and I have witnessed both pretty good and absolutely appalling from the Mill House terrace over the years, (yes, without a doubt the Man. U. match was the highlight for me!!) I had hoped for a rethink and a top to bottom shake up this close season or I’m afraid next season could be even worse, heaven forbid.

Incidentally, when there is talk of the loyalty of the supporters of premiership clubs I choke on my panackelty (a historic Hartlepool dish). My respects to those few “those brave few” who endured the stuff turned out by Cooper’s team last season (with amazing restraint) now that’s what I call loyalty.

Sorry about this blackstuff I can only hope that I will have to eat my words along with my panackelty this time next year.

Always a Pooly Pete.
