Hartlepool United have had their double transfer bid for Cork City duo Colin Healy and Denis Behan accepted by the Irish club.

Pools had their initial offer for the pair rejected as Cork deemed the offer ‘insulting’ but a deal has now been negotiated with the club. Both players will now travel to England to discuss terms with the Hartlepool before any transfer is completed.

Former Sunderland midfielder Healy has 13 caps for the Republic of Ireland while targetman Behan has been capped up to Irish U21 level.

Yeah Healy is 29. Behan is 25 for those who were interested.

I’m from Cork and regurlarly attend matches. Healy is a quality midfielder and is 100% better than the level Cork City can offer. In contrast IMO Behan is not good enough for English teams. Another Cork player worth buying is Healy’s partner in midfield Joe Gamble. A quality player who came so close to making the breakthrough at Reading before breaking his leg. Healy = great businees, Behan = crap and always will be.

I also have to admit the 8% beside Leon McSweeneys name is my 1 vote. Another good Cork player.

    Great info Irishspur-appreciated!.

Be interesting if we do sign these 2-the midfield will have major competition next term if healy is brought in-humps/healy/sweens/mcsweens/fredrikson/monky/jones/liddle-al for 4 positions-midfield could be by far and away our strongest area at the club.
behan on the other hand, doesnt sound as promising unfortunately-target man? hopefully does better than predicted.
ps,can either play at left back CT? 😉

denis behan has been a consistant menace to defenses in the league of ireland for around 8 yrs,
goals have always followed him through out his career,
he is a provider and a scorer,i disagree with the comments above, while he is not flash, he is strong on the ball and can play his heart out in every game, i believe he is a very intelligent player and a great physical threat to any centre half, he can cross a ball, he is good in the air, ive seen him win corners and frees out of nothing.
as for colin healy a real gem, i hope this move sees him add to his international caps.
along with leon mcsweeney i hope the city boys can help hartlepool.
