Phil Brown To Be Named Hartlepool Manager

Former Hull City boss Phil Brown is to be named Hartlepool United manager after successfully agreeing terms with the club.

Brown has been in discussions with the club since soon after the resignation of Neale Cooper two weeks ago and has now finalised terms.

Vital Hartlepool reported last weekthat former Pools player Brown watched the club’s game with Tranmere last Tuesday after his first interview with the club.

Discussions continued last week and over the weekend, with Brown hammering out terms with Hartlepool chairman Ken Hodcroft over the make-up of his backroom staff ahead of his appointment being confirmed.

Brown famously led Hull City to the Premier League in 2008 after winning the Championship play-off final, he kept the Tigers in the top flight during their debut season but was sacked in March 2010.

His last managerial role was at Preston, he was unable to save the club from relegation to League One and was sacked in December 2011 with his promotion favourites struggling in mid table.
