A chance of an unlikely Hartlepool revival remains on after we secured our second successive away win on Tuesday when we came away from Oxford with a two-nil win.

This win at the Kassam Stadium saw us secure our first back-to-back wins in a year, and first of such a nature all season coming just days after our first away win since October to leave us four-points from League 2 survival.

The lead came our way just past the half hour mark when Bird (33) managed where Franks had failed with his initial effort.

O’Dowda almost headed Oxford level but his effort hit the post before, early in the second half, a Mullins handball gave us the chance to extend our lead. Bird stepped up but saw his spot kick save by Oxford ‘keeper Clarke but Austin (51) was on hand to convert the rebound and seal our two-nil win.

We’re still rock bottom but we’re now closing in on a few other sides who will be seriously worried if we can win again on Saturday! Do you think we will? Cast a vote in the poll to your right!
