Danny Wilson was gutted after his side lost 2-1 against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground yesterday.

‘It can be a cruel game sometimes,’ Wilson told Pools World. ‘But we have had the chances to win the games and obviously it’s disappointing to come away with nothing.

‘It was a good bit of skill by their lad Commons for the winner but we have to tighten up in that area – it needs tweaking a little bit and we’ll get there.

‘We knew that Forest would play long diagonal balls and put pressure on – we may have lost a bit on the attacking front by leaving Jamie McCunnie out but I felt Danny Coles did well.’

Forest boss Colin Calderwood said that he was happy with the 3 points yesterday ‘Games are tough to win, especially against a decent side like Hartlepool. I said before the game that we would have do to a lot of things well to win and fortunately we did.’

He told the Forest official site that he was pleased with his players attitude ‘I thought there were some brave performances in the last 20-25 minutes because we kept working, kept passing and kept running.

‘The players didn’t get frustrated. They continued to apply themselves and got their reward because we eventually conjured up a winning goal with a super move.
