No Great Loss?

Am I just resentful because it took James Poole so long to decide that he didn’t want to stay at the Vic or am I right to think that his decision to leave Hartlepool is no great loss?

I always make it clear that I don’t get to see much football that we play, things always look better in limited highlights and the like, with Poole often looking a worldy as virtually all of his goals were spectacular one like his goal against Notts County in February last year that got shortlisted for the Football League Goal of the Year at the end of the 2012/2013 season.

It does seem that Poole was something of a marmite player though and often flattered to deceive so perhaps the decision of the 24 year old not to accept a contract offered to him isn’t the worst thing, maybe he shouldn’t have been offered it at all? No, that’s too harsh I think.

I’ve no problems with Poole deciding to move on as players come and go but I do think we deserved a little more respect than waiting until pre season training began before his decision was made as we could have turned attentions elsewhere sooner, that is if Coops plans to replace him anyway as he might have been planning with this squad without the forward anyway.

From the sounds of it Coops will replace him and he even said, not looking to be disrespectful, that he thought he could replace him with someone better as if they’re more consistent then they would be anyway.

Off the Poole issue, but still on the topic of forwards, if Marlon Harewood can follow up his words with actions we’ll not do too badly without Poole anyway as he talks a good talk.

If those actions can also mirror the condition he looks in (did you see the photo on the official website last week? He’s ripped, just like looking in mirror for me!) then we’ll definitely be ok.
