Influential Hartlepool United defender Michael Nelson to 60/40 against playing on Saturday in Pools final game of the season.

Nelson left the Spotland pitch after just 31 minutes on Saturday aftering collecting a knock to his knee. Initial reports from the club suggested Nelson had collect a medial ligament problem, but the Hartlpool Mail are reporting that Nelson may still play on Saturday.

Danny Wilson commented:

‘Nelson is still a doubt but we will wait and see. He is probably about 60/40 against at the moment but we will give him as long a necessary.

‘Although we will be making a few changes, it does not worry me in the slightest. These last few months have probably been as fortunate in terms of injuries and suspensions as I have had as a manager so I guess it was sod’s law that they would all come at once on the final day. But that is the reason we have a squad.

‘Of course the lads who won’t be playing are gutted, but we have players coming in a that are more than capable. The only reason some of them have not been involved more is because the lads who have been playing were in such a rich vein of form, it was through no fault of their own.

‘Now they have the chance to come in on what should be a fantastic occasion. These are the games that every player should want to be involved in.’

Pools will be able to recall Ben Clark as he has completed his suspension, but the loss of Andy Monkhouse and Richie Barker is a massive one, step forward Joel Porter, your time has come Skippy.
