Hartlepool United manager Neale Cooper has said his first move in the transfer market will be to add a winger to his squad.

While Pools supporters seem united on the need to bring in a new striker, Cooper told the Mail he’s looking for new players out wide.

”There’s no wingers at the club and I like to play that way. Andy Monkhouse can play there, but I wouldn’t call him a jinky winger.

”I like to look for an out-ball there and you need a natural winger. We will keep looking this week.”

He went on to say that he was looking to his native Scotland for new signings, having had discussions with several managers this week.

”I’ve been talking to players in Scotland who I’ve tried to get in, but it’s not happened yet. I’ve spoken to a lot of my friends at the Premier League clubs and there’s a few things to chase up this week.”
