Trialist Curtis Main did his chances of earning a contract no harm as he played the full 90 minutes of Hartlepool Reserves 3-1 win over Scunthorpe this afternoon.

Darlington striker Main has been training with the club and was handed a start in a youthful reserve side at Glanford Park today. James Brown and Neil Austin made their comebacks from injury and Brown opened the scoring early in the second half after a goalless first 45 minutes.

Scott Matthews grabbed an equaliser for the hosts before an 87th minute strike from Michael Mackay put Pools ahead. Then, deep into injury time, Main had an effort roll just wide of the post before Mackay added a third to give Pools 3 points in the final reserve game of the season.
