Looking Non League Again

Coops hasn’t been afraid to look towards the non league scene for players, as well as the youth team as we well know. Michael Duckworth, even though he’s injured at the moment, has been a great addition to the Hartlepool squad and an inspired signing.

John Deacey, the manager if Bradford PA, recommended Duckworth to Coops and he’ll be glad that he took his advice.

Deacey’s son Jordan was another of interest to Coops at the time but a deal with Carlisle looked to have scuppered those plans but that didn’t come off and this is a deal that could be revived as Coops is working on this as he had the midfielder training with us last week as well as turning out for the reserves and he scored in that game helping us to beat Scunthorpe 5-2.

If midfield is the main area we need to look at I’m not sure, those that go to games will be able to answer that better, but if he’s going to be someone that could come in and do a job instantly as well as have the ability going forward if a deal can be struck and he’s as good as Coops has said he is we’d be foolish not to go for him wouldn’t we.

Will his father being the Bradford PA manager make it easier or harder for us to do a deal? He’ll want what’s best for his son, but will also have to do right by Bradford PA so if a common accord can be struck we could well be adding another player at Deacey seniors recommendation.

He’ll want to be paid a scouting fee at this rate.
