Finally Hartlepool managed to collect a first win under Ronnie Moore, our first win since October, when a goal in each half was enough to secure us a vital three-points at Victoria Park against Cheltenham on Saturday afternoon.

Having already had a chance, which he probably should have scored, Scott Fenwick (38) broke through just before the break as he slide home to convert a Jack Compton cross to give us the lead.

At the midway point of the second half Rakish Bingham (68) marked his home debut with as he ended a counter attack with the finish, Fenwick had previously been denied a second with an effort cleared off the line.

Kevin Stewart did hit the post with a header for Cheltenham but it made no odds as we ran out two-nil winners to break new life into our survival hopes!

Avoiding defeat was something we expected ahead of the games as these were the pre-match polls findings:-

Hartlepool v Cheltenham

Hartlepool win 50%
Draw 50%
Cheltenham win 0%

Now we’re looking for the ‘Man of the Match’, as that’s what the latest poll is asking so do cast a vote – did a starter, or someone from the bench, offer is the most in this win?

Select the name that you want from the list in the MotM poll to your right, but why not also share your thoughts with us on your thinking, and the game itself, with some views below.
