A run of successive wins at Victoria Park came to an end on Saturday as Stevenage gave the Hartlepool hopes of a great escape in league 2 a potentially crushing blow….

We managed to battle back from a half time deficit but with the lead swiftly restored by Stevenage it was the visitors that went on to secure a three-one win in the end and give our hopes of staying in the Football League a real blow.

Stevenage looked the more threatening Wells and Kennedy both had great chances before Martin (38) capitalised on a Duckworth error to get in and volley home to give the visitors a half time lead.

The reaction in the second half couldn’t have been better as Fenwick (49), brought on at half time, made an instant impact to curl home after a Franks pass to make it one-one – we needed to maintain parity, at least, for a while longer but Kennedy (52) headed home Martin’s cross just three-minutes later to restore the Stevenage lead.

18-year-old Kennedy (65) secured the three-one win when his effort spun in, even though Mirfin tried desperately to keep the ball out, off Flinders at the midway point of the second half with us beaten….

Following this game, as is customary of course, attention now turns to the MotM for us – who you think this was?

Select the name that you want from the list in the poll to your right, but why not also share your thoughts with us on your thinking for that person, and this latest game itself, with some views….
