If we could play all our games at home you wouldn’t bet against Hartlepool staying in the Football League would you! A third successive win on home soil was secured on Tuesday night with a win over in-form Northampton.

Defeat to Portsmouth was a setback but we reacted well to win again at Victoria Park with the one-nil win against promotion chasing Northampton giving our ‘great escape’ chances hope….

We started well but couldn’t create chances and when Northampton did they almost took the lead by Mirfin got in a fine block, with the Scunthorpe loanee getting in the way to prevent Richards’ effort, which was destined for the back of the net.

D’Ath was denied by Flinders before Morgan (51) marked his home debut with a goal to give us the lead, a poor back pass gave Morgan the chance and he curled past Northampton ‘keeper Duke.

We couldn’t add the second we threatened but it didn’t make a difference, one was enough.

Following this game, as is customary of course, attention now turns to the MotM for us – who you think this was?

Select the name that you want from the list in the poll to your right, but why not also share your thoughts with us on your thinking for that person, and this latest game itself, with some views….

This site is looking for bloggers, so if you’re a fan that can offer us a genuine opinion we would love to share it with the masses!
