Hartlepool’s league 2 survival hopes took another blow on Sunday afternoon when Morecambe went away from Victoria Park with the points.

We’re now eight-points adrift of survival after the two-nil defeat as Ronnie Moore tasted defeat for the first time as Hartlepool manager after previously drawing his opening two games in charge.

The loss of Harewood, missing due to his suspension, was felt as the inexperience of those filling in was obvious with them finding it hard to get into the game.

Morecambe’s threat eventually saw them take the lead when the advantage that they were allowed to gain resulted in Redshaw (22) curling home to give the visitors a one-nil half time lead.

An equaliser couldn’t be found and with time running out veteran Ellison and Redshaw (81) combined with his second of the game securing a two-nil win and leaving us suffering another defeat that leaves us cut adrift at the foot of the table going into the New Year.
