James Brown scored the only goal of the game as Hartlepool Reserves beat their Huddersfield Town counterparts at Billingham Town’s Bedford Terrace this afternoon.

Pools started with trialist Andy Rafferty in goal but he had little to do in the first half with neither side really threatening to break the deadlock.

The game opened up after the break with James Berrett having a good chance for the visitors, he fired his effort just wide of the post.

Pools striker James Brown broke the deadlock on the hour mark when he broke through the defence and fired past Town keeper Simon Eastwood with a powerful shot.

Both James Spencer and Michael McCaffrey had chances to grab an equaliser but the visitors were unable to prevent a defeat which sees Pools leapfrog them in the Totesport League table.
