Hartlepool United Reserves comprehensively beat their Scunthorpe counterparts in this afternoon’s reserve game at Victoria Park.
The visitors started the brightest and took the lead midway through the first half as trialist Danny North fired home. However, Scunthorpe were soon down to 10 men as Ben May was dismissed.
Armann Bjornsson made the game level just before half time and added a second soon after the restart with a stunning long range effort.
Before that, Michael Mackay made it two with his first goal since his loan spell at Gateshead. Just after the hour mark James Brown came on as a substitute to make his first appearance since last November.
He marked his return in style with 2 goals in 2 minutes, putting the game well out of reach. Colin Larkin added a sixth goal late on to seal a resounding win for Pools’ second string.

Great soul legend…great mover…actually…was…he’s dead
Great news that he is back! Looking forward to seeing him fit and in the 1st team. He has the potential to be our best ever player, he’s just been unlucky with injuries. There is always more of a buzz when he plays.
Same status as your chances of auto-promotion then Charlton.
