Macclesfield Town boss Paul Ince has come out in support of Hartlepool United have until close of play today to answer the Football Association’s questions about last Tuesday nights pitch invasion.

Speaking to the Macclesfield Express the Silkmen boss said:

‘I just hope they [FA] don`t come down too hard on the club. I don`t want to see them punished because I`ve got a lot of respect for Danny Wilson and the job he`s doing.

‘I`m sure the league and the police will look into it and punish the people involved.’

The incident occurred after Ritchie Humphreys had fired Pools into the lead in the 88th minute of the 3-2 win over the struggling Silkmen, two Pools fans went onto the pitch to celebrate the goal, things went too far as the fans celebrated in front of goalkeeper Tommy Lee who attempted to push them off the pitch before the Pools stewards made a belated arrival.

A Pools spokesman said after the event:

‘We will be conducting an investigation and anyone found guilty of wrongdoing will be subject to punishment.’
