Hartlepool United midfieder Ritchie Humphreys has returned to Pools after spending a month on loan at League One side Port Vale.

Last seasons Player of the Year and North East Nationwide Player of the Year was surprisingly loaned out by Danny Wilson in a move that shocked many Pools fans.

However last night Pools announced that as expected Ritchie has returned to the club after completing one calendar month with the Vale.

Pools boss Danny Wilson has always made it clear that the loan would initially only be for one month and then he would reasses the situation. Vale we very keen to extend Humphreys move for an additional two months. Ritchie has played in seven games during the month and put in some impressive performances.

Speaking to Pools official website Wilson said:

‘We always had in our minds that the move would only be for a month.

Ritchie needed games and he got that at Port Vale – now he comes back to us match fit and you can’t ask much more than that.

He’s an important part of our squad and we want to see him challenging for his place back in the side.’

Welcome back Ritchie.

He’s a good player, we’ll definetly miss him. is he happy to be playing in the old 4th?

Surely he should stay with you for rest of season now and see if you get promoted. If you dont then he can leave because he is too good for the league.

Good player I must admit and with your team just coming into form he could slot into the side at the right time and give you that extra push that you need !

Humphreys has done a great survice to this club and hopefull the loan move would have made him fresher. Humphreys has taken this club to his heart and I can’t see him leave. If we don’t get promoted and as Jono says he leaves cause he’s too good for this league, then so will Dimi, Nelson, Clarke, Liddle, Sweeney, Porter and D. Williams because they’re all as good or better than Humphreys.
