How Different It Might Have Been?

I can only give my views based on the limited highlights I saw, and also from what I’ve read, but even though 3-0 sounds quite convincing for Rochdale maybe it wasn’t?

We’re struggling to win games at the moment and the defeat at the weekend meant we’ve suffered successive heavy defeats and Rochdale also completed a double 3-0 win over us this season in the league.

As much as I might be wrong maybe the confidence boost of one of the early chances going in might have changed things? Jordan Richards looked like his freekick was in all the way until it hit the bar and then Christian Burgess had his follow up cleared off the line. That early goal, I think, could have swung the momentum our way.

Josh Lillis might have been beaten by the Richards freekick but then he made a good save to keep out James Poole before Rochdale got fortunate with their first goal, they scored a quality second with us at fault defensively for the third. Errors like that need to be cut out but 3-0 sounds worse than it actually was, but I wasn’t watching so I might be wrong?

We seem to be suffering a bit of a crisis of confidence, and with so many young players in our team this isn’t really a surprise is it.

A boost is needed and if just one of the three chances we had before Rochdale scored had gone in it could well have been a much different afternoon at the Vic on Saturday? When this is all said and done though it is goals that win games isn’t it so we’ve got to make sure we start scoring them again, and fast.
