Hartlepool Turkeys Bring No Christmas Cheer

Hartlepool United brought fans little in the way of Christmas cheer after yet another defeat at Carlisle.

Manager John Hughes largely kept faith with the same side went down meekly at MK Dons 11 days ago with only one change made to his starting line-up as Peter Hartley replaced the suspended Jack Baldwin.

Pools hit the bar early on in the game through Jonathan Franks but were a goal down midway through the half when former Poolie Matty Robson’s effort took a deflection off Sam Collins and into the goal.

Robson had a field day against the awful Pools defence and added a second before the half hour mark after tapping in Lee Miller’s cross.

The hosts capped an easy victory off in the second half as Miller nodded home a Robson cross to seal the Cumbrians’ first win in over a month.

Hartlepool remain without a win since September and now face a daunting trip to Bramall Lane to face Sheffield United on Saturday.
