Hartlepool United announced today that they have retired the #25 shirt worn by Michael Maidens.
Pools took the decision after each player wore ‘Maidens’ on their shirts in the emotional defeat to Brighton on Saturday.
This is only the third occasion that a shirt number has been retired in the English leagues to commemorate a deceased player.
Manchester City retired the number 23 shirt in 2003 after Marc-Vivien FoƩ died playing for Cameroon and QPR retired number 31 for Ray Jones who died earlier this season.

I think that shows how much of a valued player/person he was. RIP
