Coops has managed to bring in two players today, you’ve guessed it one of them as come from Middlesbrough with other a familiar sounding name who has signed from Manchester United.

Loan deals for Luke Williams, a forward from Middlesbrough, and Jack Barmby, a midfielder from Manchester United have been agreed for the next month.

Barmby is the familiar sounding name as he’s the son of former England international Nick Barmby, it makes me feel old thinking back to Nick Barmby who must feel even older with a 19-year-old son.

Williams is well known to Coops with Barmby in need of something more than development and reserve football with Coops telling BBC Tees.

‘Luke’s very keen and I think he needs a chance to feel good after levelling off since that rise as a 16-year-old.

‘Everybody at Middlesbrough recognises his talent, but it’s a case of finding somewhere for him to kick on.

‘With Jack, Manchester United and his dad feel he’s ready to step up from under-21 football.

‘It’s very difficult at a huge club like that to break through. I think clubs are recognising that we’re a good place to send players to develop.’

I’m going to have to back the judgment of Coops with both players I think as they’re not familiar to me. Williams became Boro’s youngest ever player in 2010 and has over 20 games to his name but a start in the FA cup this season was his first in a year.

Barmby’s got to have some pedigree to be on the books of Manchester United.

We’ll soon see if they’re an improvement on what we have but if nothing else it freshens the squad up a little, for at least a month, and should keep everyone on their toes.

Both should be in the squad to face York and wouldn’t have come to the Vic to sit on the bench for a month, or however long they’ll stay, so maybe at least one will come straight into the side with Barmby perhaps the more likely as midfield is where we’re a bit short.
