Hartlepool United have officially completed the signing of Cork City striker Denis Behan.

Pools had a bid for Behan and his team-mate Colin Healy accepted last week and the pair travelled to England this weekend to discuss terms with the club.

Now the club have officially announced that 25-year-old Behan has signed for the club this morning. Behan has scored 35 goals in 90 starts for the Irish club and could make his debut in tomorrow nights friendly with Sheffield Wednesday.

a target man on board at last-the first since barker left-im not including henderson in this debate!!

will give us options-well done pools and CT-now lets get healy finalised and then we can concentrate on getting that elusive left back!

  • HUFCSCOTTY says:

sell one of our centre midfielders when healy arrives then buy a lb

  • moscrof says:

henderson was never a target man he didnt have the right quality terrible player, over the moon with this next healy then the left back and a very young keeper to play third fiddle and mature through the ranks

Excellent news, I was buzzong with England beating the Aussies and this has made it better. Good target man, looking forward to seeing him play. All looks good

  • PooliePoolie says:

Delighted to sign him, as you all say, just Healy and the left back to come.

Now we’ve signed him, does this possibly mean Foley and/or Mackay could be on the way out?

I have liked what I have read on the Behan. Although he doesn’t look overlay prolific (1 in 3ish I think). I have read he is a powerful, no nonsense forward, which is exactly what we need, someone to bully the opposition. I have also seen a few goals on you tube and looks as if he has good technical ability when striking the ball (scoring free kicks, pens and a 20+ yard lob) High hopes for the young man, lets hope he delivers.

He has scored 35 goals in around 90 apps, which is not bad. If he can get us 15 goals a season I will be more than happy. We look strong now, We can get 30+ goals from Boyd/Brown, along with maybe 10-15 from an on form Sweeney and now Behan, lets just hope we can shore things up at the back, which I think Healy willplay a big part in should he sign (Fingers crossed) and we are on a winner! I cant wait to get started!! COME ON POOLS!!

That could well mean tymon and maybe foley go out on loan to get some games under their belts and help them improve for the future (aimed at tymon especially)

  • PooliePoolie says:

Turner rates Mackay very highly so I expect him to play a big role this season. I wouldn’t expect to see much of Foley, Turner dropped him like a stone at the end of last season when everyone was fit.

Good work, as mentioned already now we need to get a left back in. Hopefully now Behan is official Healy will sign too, as he looks like a quality player on paper and should add some competition in the midfield. Much stronger looking team now though, Turner has kept his word and shook the whole thing up. I had my doubts when I saw the size of the retain list, but I have to admit to being excited about the new season now, which I wasn’t when we shipped 4 at Bristol Rovers. Get that defender in CT.

Full credit must go to CT he has transformed the team and gave us a decent squad.Good luck Denis Behan, roll on aug 8 and a new left back.
