Hartlepool United Reserves kicked off their new season with a convincing win over Lincoln City at Billingham Town this afternoon.

Mick Wadsworth named a strong line-up with Armann Bjornsson, Peter Hartley, Leon McSweeney and Denis Behan all starting the game alongside Ritchie Humphreys who made a comeback from injury.

Pools were in control from the start and took the lead after a neat finish from Denis Behan. Leon McSweeney could have added a second for Pools while at the other end Delroy Facey wasted chances to equalise.

Humphreys was brought off at half time and replaced by trialist Bakaray Bojang and Pools doubled their lead midway through the second half. Armann Bjornsson, playing as a defender, made the score 2-0 and Pools held out for the win.
