Hartlepool United remain rooted to the bottom of League One after drawing a blank at home to crisis club Portsmouth at Victoria Park.

John Hughes named an unchanged side for the visit of the team lying directly above Pools in the table. Pools struggled to break down the side that hadn’t won in 20 matches.

James Poole had the best chances of the match for the home side while Pools felt they deserved a penalty after an apparent handball in second half injury time.

The point moves Pools to within 11 points of safety, Portsmouth remain one point and one place above the league’s bottom side.
