Another good performance brought not much once again! Draw yesterday meant 5 points lost!

First half seemed to fly by but that can only be a good thing, it normally drags when your getting hammered! Some positive flowing football was played similar to that of the first half against the Dons. Williams in the middle shone with his fast direct runs at the defenders, unlucky that he either got crowded out or just couldn’t get a significant strike away at goal.

We had plenty of strikes from distance which is what I thought we havent been doing enough of lately. Williams and Monkhouse each having a shot saved! Flinders made a great stop too tipping onto the bar from a shot by McSheffrey (i think). Best chance of the first half though came from a Walton corner that led to a bit of penalty box pinball, with Monkhouse and A N Other (hard to see through the crowd) having good attempts at goal well blocked.

After kicking with the wind first half we found ourselves fighting it second half, but it didnt effect us too much with us keeping the ball mainly on the floor continuing our fast passing football. Naturally though Scunthorpe faired a bit better second half in an attacking sense having the wind behind their backs, but still didn’t cause any real threat.

We had another BIG chance towards the end when sub Compton attacked the full back before cutting in on his left foot and putting a great cross in that was just to high for Harewood, who in jumping to attempt a header, put off James waiting behind and he just couldn’t get a good connection.

Williams played brilliantly, very tricky in the middle, not scared to run at the defence, if his final ball was improved he could be a brilliant player. Unfortunately probably not for us.

Barmby was also dangerous on the wing, but as mentioned elsewhere proved too tricky for his own good sometimes, he needs to keep things simple now and again.

Holden was great again, I think Aussie needs to fear for his place when Duckworth returns.

Flinders…….. Safe as houses. Every ball that came over he came for and held or cleared. Its a shame he didn’t do that on Tuesday!

Oh goodness I’ve just remembered the rocket!

Late on the ball fell to Harewood outside the box who let rip with a smashing drive Hugh the Hammer would be proud of! Unfortunately for Pools and those behind the goal the ball just missed the post, causing no injuries!
