Gateshead started their temporary stint at Hartlepool United’s Victoria Park with a defeat to Conference leaders Wrexham.

The Heed started the game with former Pools players James Brown, Phil Turnbull and Ryan Donaldson in the first team and Ben Clark amongst the substitutes.

Wrexham also boasted a number of former Poolies with Chris Westwood and Stephen Wright both starting the game for the Welsh side, who grabbed the winner on the hour mark through veteran striker Brett Ormerod.

513 fans were present at the game and the result, leaves Gateshead, who will play at least six more games at Victoria Park, in the Conference relegation zone.

In League One this evening Oldham Athletic ran out surprise 2-1 winners at Stevenage to move out of the relegation places and leave Pools 9 points away from safety.
