Hartlepool United goalkeeper Scott Flinders has admitted he’s been delighted with his first few games for the club.

Flinders was snapped up by Chris Turner after being released by Crystal Palace and he admits all he wanted was to be playing football regularly ”Coming here and my target and aim was to play and play regularly.

”I’ve been out on loan a lot and it’s a bit like, I don’t know if you watch it, Alan Partridge and living out of a suitcase in a hotel. It’s been quoted in the past and it’s horrible being stuck in one room and having five loan clubs aged 23 isn’t good.”

He told the Northern Echo that the support for Chris Turner and Pools coaching staff had been a big help ”I know what I can do. The gaffer and Gary Walsh, the goalkeeping coach, are fantastic to work for and it’s nice to have people like that who will back you all the way.

”There was a lot of new signings coming in at once and I think that showed in pre-season with everyone learning each other`s games, so there’s a lot more to come from us

”I’ve had a lot of people being negative about me and negative press and now it’s about me and building my career, striving to do well for Hartlepool and helping the team to bigger and better things.”
