Hartlepool were beaten 4-0 by Port Vale in the FA Cup on Sunday.

The Hartlepool hopes of a money spinning third round tie ended when League 1 side Port Vale ran out comfortable winners as three goals in the opening half an hour effectively ended this game.

Port Vale took a 12th minute lead through Rigino Cicilia with the Valiants two up a couple of minutes later when Michael Woods turned the ball into his own net.

Alex Jones, who had put Woods under pressure for the own goal, made it three just past the half hour mark when set up by Paulo Tavares’ through ball.

Ryan Taylor’s second half penalty made absolutely certain Port Vale would advance.
