Hartlepool not only suffered defeat to Sunderland on Tuesday this match also saw Middlesbrough loanee Brad Fewster and teammate Lewis Hawkins both suffer injury setbacks.

Craig Hignett confirmed Fewster will return to his parent club Middlesbrough for treatment on his hamstring, this will probably keep him out for two to four-weeks, which he told the Official Site was especially disappointing as he’s ‘looked sharp’ in training of late.

‘Brad has done his hamstring – it looks like a tear. He`s been assessed by Buster and he`ll go back to Middlesbrough for treatment but it looks like two to four weeks out which is a massive blow because he`s looked sharp in training.’

This injury was sustained just 25-minutes into his first start for the club.

He lasted longer than Hawkins though as his own hamstring injury, which he felt tighten, forced him off even earlier with Hignett hopeful over his own prognosis.

‘Hopefully with Lewis it`s just a sciatic thing and nothing too serious but that`s one we will have to look at again in the morning.’
