Danny Wilson spoke of his despair after Hartlepool performed awfully and with a lack of heart in the loss to Millwall.

Hartlepool usually pay the price for having many chances and getting hit by a sucker punch. Instead, Hartlepool deserved to lose and were never seriously in contention.

Wilson admitted his side were second best, ‘I thought we were second best in all areas today’ he told Pools World, ‘It didn’t help that we conceded a goal in the first 2 minutes which I am not happy about. We didn’t learn from it as we conceded a similiar goal for the second’

Hartlepool were sloppy in possesion and were frantic on the ball. A lack of depth was exposed when Michal Nelson injured his knee and Pools were forced to slot midfielder Liddle into center back. Hartlepool’s bench was young, inexperienced and generally poor.

Danny Wilson was quick to admit the blow of Nelson’s injury, ‘Michael picked up an injury but at the moment we aren’t sure about the severity’ As Hartlepool head into a game against Cheltenham at home on Friday, Wilson delivered news that Nelson may not feature, ‘You would have to say he is a serious doubt for the game on Friday, but we will have to wait until tommorow to find out firm news’
