If Hartlepool aren’t able to win away, and string together a run of wins, there’s no chance of us staying up! These might be slim anyway but the win over AFC Wimbledon was followed up by a disappointing defeat at Dagenham.

The two-nil loss at Victoria Road on Tuesday makes it very much a case of ‘one step forward two steps back!’

Compton, warned to ‘man up’ earlier in the week, saw an early volley deflected over before sub ‘keeper O’Brien saw himself called into action when Cousins sustained a cut to his eye. If concentration was lost by this change it was ours! A minute later Hemmings’ cross into the box was sliced into his own net by Harrison (22) for an own goal!

Hemmings headed against the bar just before half time as Dagenham threatened again with the points secured at the midway point of the second half when Bingham (66) curled home a freekick to wrap up the points!
