Hartlepool United manager Neale Cooper has enquired about several players, as he looks to strengthen his squad in January.

With a number of League One sides making early moves in this transfer window Cooper is eager to add at least one new face to his squad.

”I’ve been talking to players in Scotland, tried to get in, it’s not happened yet. I’ve spoke to a lot of my friends at the Premier League clubs and there’s a few things to chase up.” he told the Echo.

Cooper is thought to be interested in Cillian Sheridan, who is currently on loan from CSKA Sofia with to St Johnstone but also said he’s trying to use players already at the club, including youngster Luke James.

”Some managers come in with their own ideas and don’t like playing younger players. At Sheffield United and Luke came on and never gave their left-back a minute.

”Sometimes he gives away the ball, but on the whole he’s a talent. We are looking for people with pace and he’s one we’ve got.”
