Hartlepool United pair Ben Clark and Ritchie Humphreys have both suffered injuries which could mean they both miss the start of the season.

Humphreys had an existing Achilles problem flare up during the trip to Holland while Clark is suffering from a hernia. Club captain Humphreys will definitely miss the opening game with his injury.

”Ritchie has had an Achilles problem rolling over from last season. He had some injections in it to settle it down but in the first period of the game last week he felt something go and the scan has revealed a new injury on top of the old injury.” he told the official site.

Humphreys added that he was gutted to be injured for the first time since he joined Pools in 2001 ”I took medical advice at the end of last season and had some injections which can help aid the tendonitis problems I was having.

”First of all, it’s going to be the first time I’ve not been available for a first team game since I joined the club. But in nine years I think you’ve got to expect that there’ll be times when you’re not going to be 100% fit.”

Defender Clark missed the game with Sheffield Wednesday last night and will see a specialist this week to decide whether the injury will require surgery or not.
