Hartlepool’s main objective was secured last weekend, the win at Exeter ensured we would remain in the Football League, but or almost an hour on Saturday it looked like our season would end in heavy defeat at Carlisle….

That was until an incredible second half; virtually second half of the second half, fightback earned us a three-three draw at Brunton Park.

The 2,000 following, done out in the traditional end of season fancy dress, would have had spirits dampened slightly come half time as a blistering eight-minute spell saw Carlisle in full control.

Kyle Dempsey (25) opened the scoring from 20-yards and within 10-minutes it was three-nil with two-goals in two-minutes from Rigg (31) and Kennedy (33).

Hugill’s (63) loan spell from Preston is due to end now but he signed off with a goal to bring us some cheer, or so we thought that’s all it was at the time but when Duckworth (64) scored a fine individual effort a minute later hope was really revived.

If it’s his last action in a Hartlepool shirt them Hugill (86) signed off in style with an equaliser four-minutes from time to secure us an unlikely three-three draw!
