As Hartlepool travel to the south coast to play League One strugglers Brighton and Hove Albion this Saturday there is an extra incentive for Pools.

Pools have never beaten the seagulls down on their home turf – so that is a mission in itself – but if 3 teams lose then Pools can jump into a top six spot on Saturday evening.

The hard work by Chris Turner in the summer looks like it is beginning to take shape. But what is needed to grab a top 6 place on Saturday?

First of all Pools must beat Brighton, then they need Bristol Rovers, who were hammered 4-0 by Leeds last night,, to lose at MK Dons and Colchester to continue their winning streak by gaining maximum points at Millwall. Furthermore Oldham must beat Huddersfield by one goal.

It all sounds great but as we know, the season is long and if Pools come back to the north-east empty handed then will the knives be out once more for Chris Turner?
