A few alarm bells would have gone off for some when it came to light Hartlepool had been issued a winding up petition by Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs. However, as reported in the Hartlepool Mail, it seems this is nothing to be concerned about.

Hartlepool’s unpaid tax bills, which went unpaid for up to 10-days by all accounts, are said to have been settled with the issue now resolved with HMRC. The Mail’s report said the club confirmed ‘despite the petition all issues had been resolved and the bill paid.’

An ‘accounting software error’ was blamed for an issue with HMRC earlier in the year with that previous winding up petition dismissed by the judge with the club having already paid off the bill but the ‘process had already began’ so it had to go as far as it did.
