Adam Boyd and Michael Mackay were on the scoresheet as Hartlepool United Reserves picked up a draw against Middlesbrough.

Pools took the lead early on when a Fabian Yantorno’s freekick was palmed away by Boro keeper Connor Ripley into the path of Adam Boyd who slotted home.

It was 2-0 before the break as a Dylan Purvis freekick found Armann Bjornsson, the Icelandic flicked the ball into the path of Michael Mackay who finished to give Pools a comfortable lead at the interval.

The visitors pulled one back on the hour mark when Jonathan Grounds headed home from a corner before an injury time strike from Cameron Park levelled the scores.

Pools: Flinders, Purvis, Bjornsson, Johnson, Rowbotham, Richards, Yantorno, Mackay (Hassan 70), Behan (Martin 70), Larkin, Boyd (Donaldson 46).
Subs: Rafferty, Holden.
